So, my journey to Dearborn, Michigan began at 10:00am Thursday morning. I left my home in Spartanburg, S.C. and traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee…where I would hitch a ride with John (archiefanatic) for the remainder of the trip. The drive from Spartanburg to Knoxville was 3 hours, so I just listened to a CD of all of David’s AI performances that violet4ever had given to me!!
Once in Knoxville, John and I found a place to park my car and I put all of my bags into John’s. As I was retrieving the gift I had brought along for David, John’s eyes looked like they were going to pop out of his head…LOL! He said “Is that it”??? I was like…yeah, it is…LOL!! John couldn’t get over how big the box was and I kept explaining that the gift itself was not that big!! So, we decided to grab a bite to eat at Ruby Tuesday’s before heading out on the road to Cincinnati, where we were going to pick up Dominic.
While driving, I think John and I became delirious. We were laughing about anything and everything along the highway. We had begun to laugh at the names of some of the roads. One, for example, was called Big Bone Lick road…LOL! So, while we were having our laughs at the names of the roads, John and I decided to pull a prank on Dominic. I texted Dominic and told him that my husband had just called to tell me that I had left one of the tickets lying out on the counter at home and since he was the only one who had not paid for his ticket yet, I guess he couldn’t go. Dominic texted me back and said “OMG…Are you serious”?? So, I texted back and told Dominic that I was really sorry and I hoped he was okay…LOL! Then, I texted him and asked if it would be okay if John and I stopped by his house to use his bathroom since we were coming that way…LOL!! Dominic texted me back and said “Ummm…I don’t have power, but could you stop by and pick up David’s gifts”?? So, I texted back and told Dominic that since he didn’t have power, we would just skip his house and that maybe he should overnight his gifts to David…LOL! It was all really funny, actually. John and I were dying laughing at this point and I would have given anything to have seen the look on Dominic’s face when I asked if we could stop by and use his bathroom! Anyway, I finally texted him back and told him that he had just been punked…haha! Dominic was such a great sport about the whole thing!
So, we get to Dominic’s house. As he is putting his bags into John’s trunk, he spots the big white package I had brought along for David. Of course John and Dominic had a good laugh at the size of the package…haha! John said…”OMG…David will have to pay to carry that onboard his flight”!! When he said that, it reminded me that David was not on the tour buses anymore…he was actually flying in an airplane! So, I asked John why he did not remind me of this when I bought the gift. John exclaimed “I didn’t know it was going to be the size of a door”!! So, this is what prompted the two day joke about my gift!
We got to the hotel around 10:30pm, where I finally got to meet Janey. Janey was taking Kristi’s place since Kristi had been hospitalized at the last minute with pneumonia and couldn’t go. Janey had flown in from California (next time I am flying, too). Janey and I talked a little in the hotel room…getting to know each other a little bit and then she, John, Dominic, and I all went to grab something to eat. We talked about David, of course, and had ourselves a lovely time. Once we were back in our hotel room, I logged onto my laptop so I could check in with everyone and Janey and I chatted with a few of the angels in the chat room at Archuleta Avenue! Janey and I were very excited about what would be transpiring the next day, so I don’t think either of us could sleep.
On Friday morning, the four of us left the hotel and went to the venue. Upon arrival, we met Tracey. Tracey filled us in on the NO GIFTS policy the venue was enforcing, which meant that I could not give David his gift. I was pretty bummed. When I gave him the compass necklace, I was not there to see him open it, so I had really wanted to be there when he opened this one! So, anyway…we continued meeting other angels from Rickey’s….Patty, Erica, and FunnyGirl and we decided to make our way into the venue. I had also been texting a girl from Loving Archie, who I was very anxious to meet. So, I was on the lookout for her as well. Once we were inside the door, I was told that I would not be able to go inside. Freo had not arrived yet and I had her ticket. I asked if I could just bring it back out to her when she arrived and they informed me that once I was inside, I was not allowed to leave and re-enter the building. So, I had to stand outside in the lobby and wait on Freo to arrive. After about 30 minutes, I called Freo and she was lost. She had a really hard time finding the venue. I must admit, I had started to panic and get a little frustrated because I missed lunch and I was afraid that I would miss the concert, too. But, luckily…Freo made it!! She and I just made a dash for the line and when they opened the doors, we ran to our seats. We were really lucky to have gotten as close as we did. I felt really bad for Freo…bless her heart. She looked like she was going to cry at any moment…and I felt horrible that I had been irritated with her. I just loved her…she was a wonderful lady and I would have loved to have spent more time with her! I finally met Brittney from Loving Archie and she was absolutely beautiful! I loved talking to her while waiting in the line. Her smile was so infectious!
So, the concert was PERFECTION!! David sang ‘Angels’ and it was breathtaking, as always. I don’t think I will ever tire of hearing him sing that song…EVER!! Then, David starts to talk to us about the next song he would be performing and I think we all knew what it was going to be before he announced it. The crowd went crazy and I couldn’t believe I was sitting there, in Michigan, listening to David sing his first single live for the very first time!! OMG!! How lucky was I??? David did a wonderful job, although it was quite obvious that he was nervous. I was video taping the performance when half way through, my cell phone rang. It was Kristi…LOL. I had called her right before David’s set so that she could listen to him sing. I felt really bad that she was in the hospital and would not be able to listen to Rickey’s live cell cast…and since she was not able to attend in person…I thought it would be a nice thing to do for her! So, when my phone rang…it was apparently because it had hung up on Kristi at some point during the song and she, of course, called back…LOL! When the phone rang, it scared me so bad, I dropped my camera. I tried to get the phone turned off and hold the camera steady, too…but, I never could get the camera back into focus…so, I just shut it off. I was really disappointed that I was unable to get the whole ‘Crush’ performance, but…the bright side is this: Kristi called on my phone that does not have the ‘Crush’ ringtone! Can you imagine how awkward it would have been if she had called on the phone that does have the ‘Crush’ ringtone???
When David was talking to us about his last song, Dominic guessed immediately that it was going to be ‘Imagine’. You can even hear him whispering it to me in my ‘Imagine’ video! That performance was absolutely the best I have every witnessed. The feeling in that room on Friday was unlike anything I have every experienced. It was simply magical. David sings that song with so much passion and feeling and it pierces the heart. I was shaking so badly, I’m surprised that my video turned out as good as it did. I was so excited about my video, I couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel and upload it for everyone to see!
After the show was over, David came back out to sign autographs. I waited patiently in line while others were pushing and shoving. I just stood and watched people as they would shove the pictures at David. He never complained or showed any sense of discouragement. He just smiled that beautiful smile and scribbled away. After the crowd cleared out, I made my way up to the stage and managed to hand David the picture of him from his video shoot where he is standing with his guitar. I showed him the necklace in the photo and told him I was the one who had given it to him. He smiled at me and said “Really? Wow…that’s cool”!! He signed the picture and I made room for those behind me. I then walked over to where Jeff was and got in line to speak to him. I waited in line for about 15 minutes and just as I was about to speak to Jeff, another angel (I won’t name names) came over and interrupted me. She was very rude and obnoxious and it floored me that someone could be like that. I guess it bothers me more because I am quite and more reserved and I try to put others before myself. This person, however, was all about herself…and that was very clear to me and a few others who witnessed it her behavior. So, anyway…I eventually had a chance to talk to Jeff and explain to him that I had brought David a gift but was not allowed to bring it inside. Jeff noted that there were several others who had had the same problem. He spoke with Patty and decided that he would come out to the parking lot and meet her to get all of the gifts. I thought that was wonderful of him to do. He is such a kind, gentle man. He goes above and beyond for David’s fans and he truly cares about making you feel special.
I noticed that David was now taking photos, so Dominic and I went over and waited in line. David recognized Dominic, so we walked up to him and I took this opportunity to tell David about my gift. It was so loud in there that I don’t think David understood what I was saying. He just looked at me and smiled ever so sweetly! I asked for a photo and he said “Sure”! I looked like crap, but David is handsome…as always! I walked away knowing that I had accomplished what I had driven 13 hours to do. I had finally got that photo with David!! I was on cloud 9!! Once we were all out in the parking lot, Jeff came outside to pick up all of the gifts. I showed him mine and asked if he thought it would be better if I shipped it…since they were on an airplane. He thought that would be a great idea and so he gave me his mailing address and told me to send it to David at home! Like I said earlier, I was somewhat disappointed that I would not be there to see David open his gift, but all in all…the day was incredible! I will never forget the experience or the people I met that day! And now, to answer the burning question about what my door sized gift was:
As many of you know, I gave David the compass necklace he wore in his video. It meant so much to me that he wore it…whether it was just a coincidence or not. It still meant the world to me. I wanted to give him something this time that was unlike all the other gifts he was receiving. I knew he had more than enough t-shirts and necklaces, so that was out of the question. So, this time I decided to do something more sentimental.
I named a star after David! With the naming of the star, he was given a gold framed certificate and a chart that showed the coordinates of his star and his star is circled in gold. On the certificate, I had them add a personal message from me that read:
“A Star for a Star! May you always shine as brightly as you do today!”
So, anyway…the frame was rather larger than I had expected…but it was quite beautiful. Here is a link so that you can see it:
http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f322/lad yvette826/?action=view¤t=DavidStar1A.jpg
I really hope that when it arrives at David’s house, he will love it. He is certainly our star and he shines so brightly. I wanted him to know that!
And…that is my story! Sorry it’s so long….but, thank you for reading it!
My Husband and I began our 2 hour+ roadtrip to Evansville on Wednesday night. I was going to make sure we had an early rise and plant ourselves in an ideal spot to meet the Idols (one David Archuleta in particular). We made it to the hotel without incident armed with video, audio, and photo equipment. Plenty of extra batteries.
On Thursday morning we made the 3 mile drive to Roberts Stadium, arriving at 9:00a.m. A family was already there sitting in the parking lot when we arrived. After introductions and learning they were a mom, daughter, and 3 granddaughters from Nashville, TN., we decided to form a group and went to the front of the barricades to begin our wait for the Idols' arrival. This was a good plan since the stadium would not allow the use of the bathroom facilities. Turns could be taken saving places and watching over personal articles during bathroom drives. The day began as an overcast morning but the raindrops soon started to fall. No, this couldn't be happening! Luckily, no serious rain occurred throughout the day and the humidity wasn't too bad.
If anyone is familiar with Robert's Stadium, they are aware it is a small venue. When chosing which concert to attend, the size is what made our decision to head to Evansville. Turned out to be a good decision. Approximately 200 people showed up to meet the buses, allowing plenty of space along the barricades for a single file line.
The buses transporting the Idols arrived at 1:30. After about 15 minutes David Archuleta was the first to come out to loud screams in the crowd. Darn, he started at the opposite end. atience!!! Soon to follow was David Cook, also to loud screams. A little later Kristy appeared and started at our end. Michael, Jason, Chikezie, and Carly soon followed. Brooke arrived a little later but spent quality time with all the supporters. No sign of Syesha or Ramiele. Each idol took their time filtering down the line signing autographs and allowing photos. Not to make it too long talking of each Idol, we have to say everyone of them were very personable and polite. Even though David A. had press, he took the time to speak with everyone. For anyone who is a doubter, he is a very genuinely sincere and caring person. He will definitely make a fine role model. Watching him, it could be seen in his eyes and expressions. He truly cared about the fans who were there to support him. When he was called to press, he became worried about the gifts fans had given him and that they wouldn't be lost. About 2 hours were spent meeting the fans by the Idols who had came out. It didn't appear that anyone was ignored. After many pictures of David, a couple of autographs including signing my Archey's Angels t-shirt, David had completed his way down the line and headed for his press interview. After finishing aquiring the other Idols' signatures and pictures there was enough time for a quick bite to eat and freshen up before the concert. Can't wait!
Hubby's turn to tell of the concert:
You could feel the excitement in the air as we waited for the doors to open! Everyone was waiting in anticipation. The one thing that I found a bit interesting was the number of people who have followed the tour throughout its run. We spoke with a couple of girls who, after the Tulsa concert, will have attended 10 shows. WOW!
The gates opened promptly at 6 p.m. and we were about 10th in line to get through the turnstile. A quick trip to the vendor area to get a souvenir program and David A.'s 8x10 picture and we were on our way to our seats. Luck was with us because the ramp to our section was right by the vendor section. If you have never been to Roberts Stadium there is not a bad seat in the house. I seemed to remember that from a fuzzy Van Halen concert I attended in my college years there. Our seats were perfect.
Time for the concert. In an effort to retrieve video from the concert I had purchased a small and inexpensive digital video camera and 4 gigs of memory. It was cheap enough that if confiscated, no big loss. More on that later. Chikezie opened the show. WOW! This guy has really improved. I won't take a huge amount of time on the other Idols but they all did good in their own right and all show tremendous improvement. So far so good, a group number and then intermission. Please make it go quick! Let's get to the good part! The Guitar Hero playoff was kinda cute and they did do an air Guitar Hero playoff with 2 kids from the audience and gave them prizes. Finally, time to start!
Jason, Brooke, and Syesha perform admirably. As I said before, lots of growth, both vocally and maturity. The crowd had been really receptive to all of the Idols thus far but when the fanfare started and the giant number 2 came up on the screens, the noise level from the crowd went into overdrive. The stage filled with fog and up out of the fog singing "Angels" rises David Archuleta. I did not think that the crowd could get louder but they proved me wrong by doubling their noise. It did not last long and David belted out Angels like the professional he is. You have to love the purity and strength of his voice. Without much further ado he went right into Apologize. Our sons believe that David sings this one better than One Republic. Stand By Me was awesome that is all one can say. He finished the set with When you Say you Love Me explaining the meaning the song has for him before singing it. All in all I was quite pleased with this performance. I have read before that to really hear David sing you must hear it live. I tend to agree wholeheartedly! The atmosphere was electric and his voice pure and strong. I had also read reports of David being ill and having some technical difficulties at some of the past venues. If that be the case, Ladies and Gentlemen: David is better than ever now!
David Cook came out and did a good job with his set, but being pretty much biased, he did not outdo Archey!
The final group number was pleasant. While they were singing I found myself wondering what they would feel like in Tulsa knowing it was the last show and the last song. I imagine it will probably be rough on them all because you could feel and see a certain comraderie amongst them.
Off to the video camera. I recorded the first song of every Idol and all of David A. We arrived back home at about 2 a.m. so I waited until this morning to download the video and watch it. To my instant chagrin I found out once again that you get what you pay for. The video sucked! No since sugar-coating it. The goal was good video and expendability. Not gonna happen. My wife took the camera back today and returned it. If I had known security and monitoring was going to be so lax, I would have gotten a better one. Apologies to the video hounds out there. My wife did take my Sony digital audio recorder and managed to get the full audio of David's performance and we'll upload it later. I did find videos (not mine) of the Evansville performance and I will upload those as well.
Anyway, a great show altogether and I do sincerely hope that all of the Idols have great success. I am still completely awe-struck by what a great performer our David is. The best thing is it can only get better! I have a feeling we personally met with greatness here at the American Idol concert in Evansville.
So apparently, one road trip, one Idol concert, and one
sweating-and-standing-in-in-extreme-heat episode is not enough for
yours truly, so I decided to take my measly $600 "gift" from El
Presidente and do it all over again.
Originally, since my mommy
is in Alaska, I was going to force my partner Dan to chauffeur my
daughter Meg and I to Evansville, Indiana (4 hours away), where he
could sulk and be antisocial while Meg and I met the Idols again.
Thankfully, my dear friend Mandy saved us all from that particular fate
when she volunteered to come along. Yay- girl's trip!!
Now,
those who know me well know that I hate to drive. I am very bad at it.
I tend to get road ragey and hit various stationary objects. Now I was
literally thrust into the driver's seat. I seriously had doubts about
whether or not we would make it to Evansville.
Nevertheless, I
took my Aveo by the steering wheel and off we went, listening to my
"Girl's Night Mix" cd and Archie's "Crush" single on repeat, much to
Megan's chagrin.
The trip to Evansville was fairly uneventful. We arrived at the Baymont Inn no worse for wear.
This
morning, we set out for Roberts Stadium to meet our Idols. I was much
wiser this time- I had strategized for this meeting like a general
prepares for battle. I armed myself with bottled water, suntan lotion,
spearmint gum (for minty breath), and a card for each Idol. I had hit
up the Cardologist a couple of weeks ago for some humorous cards in
which I put pictures from the St. Louis concert, so they could have
them for a scrapbook or sell them to the Enquirer or whatever.
We
were among the first to arrive at the stadium. In all my planning I had
forgotten chairs, so Mandy sportingly ran down to Walmart to get some.
It was sprinkling on and off, but for the most part it stayed gray and
humid. Thankfully I had decided to wear my hair in it's natural, curly
beastlike state.
I was sweating like crazy so I changed my clothes in the parking lot. Great planning, General Michele.
We
met up with some awesome fellow Idolators- some girls throwing a
birthday party for Chikezie and handing out beads; a couple of ladies
sitting next to us, one named Michele (awesome name!); and a girl named
Carrie who was there by herself since her friends (foolishly) didn't
want to go.
We hung out for about 2 and a half hours. It went very quickly though! And then came the buses!
First
out was David Archuleta. He looked almost ethereal in a turquoise
shirt. He is perfection. Sorry, I will stop now. Unfortunately, he
started at the end of the line, and we were closer to the beginning.
Next was David Cook, sporting a Kansas City Chiefs hat. He also started at the end. I started getting impatient and whiny.
Then
there was... Kristy Lee Cook! KLC is always nice and polite to us fans,
but I am sure it's hard to be there when most of us are drooling over
the men. She started at our end and was my first autograph and picture
of the day!
Then came... Castro! A bunch of his fans were
there as usual- some of them were actually toting his head on a stick.
Not his actual head, sorry. I should clarify that. I like Jason- he's
not my favorite, but I do like him a lot. He always looks good. His
hair is awesome, and he has the bluest eyes and the whitest teeth. He
was wearing a white shirt and denim cutoffs- and no shoes! He looked
really, really good. He is always very nice and down to earth too. He
signed me an autograph and took pictures with all of us.
Then...
Michael Johns!!! He looked hot. Woo! And he started at our side! As he
was walking up, he saw Megan and said to her "Aww!" about her Puppy
Johns sign and then "Nice to see you again!" He recognized her from St.
Louis! Meg and I about DIED!
Then... calamity! Archie and
Michael Johns got to us at the same time. Actually, Archie got there
first. He is so awesome. First I said, "This little girl is SO jealous
of you! You have to win her over!" as I pointed to Meg. He said
"Really? Why?" And I said "Oh, she thinks I love you more than her,
which is ridiculous." And I think he like laughed and nodded. It's hard
to remember! I told him she had just started piano lessons and he
seemed really interested in that. Then my mouth took over. I showed him
my framed picture of the 2 of us from St. Louis. He signed it. I said,
"I have this sitting on my desk at work." and he said "Really? Where
from?" and I thought he meant where do I work, so I said "A newspaper."
and he said "This was at a newspaper?" and I said "No, I work at a
newspaper; this picture is from my desk there." and he said "Where was
it taken?" and I said "OH! St. Louis! I thought you meant where did I
work?"
Yeah, I'm an idiot. And I sure felt like one. We were
like 2 people who were fluent in the language of Fluster. It was
ridiculous. I am cringing just writing about it!!!
THEN- to
further things, Michael Johns walked up during all this and proceeded
to skip us! As I was getting my picture taken (again) with Archie, I
yelled "Michael Johns, you get back here!!!" Like I was his mother or
something. Sheesh.
He yells back (jokingly) "Hey! You skipped
me!" but he came back over. He talked to Meg about how he remembered
her from St. Louis. "In the parking garage. I hopped up on the cement
block for her." Incredible!
So I said to him, "Can I have my
picture with you? I did my hair and everything!" and he says, "You did?
In this humidity?" He is a riot.
Not too long after that, Cook
got to us. I made him read my sign, which said "Gimme Cookie!" and had
a picture of Cookie Monster on it. I asked him to sign my pics of him
from St. Louis, one of which I had tried to photoshop and make it look
like a comic. He said "What happened to this one- did you spill
something on it?" and I said "You know? I was trying to be all artsy
and it obviously didn't work." He laughed. In his pictures with Meg and
me, he is making some crazy faces. If I had known he was doing that, I
would have made one back at him instead of smiling like a mindless
idiot.
I got really excited because I saw Carly, and she was the
one I missed in St. Louis. She apparently had some friends there who
gave her a birthday party, since her birthday is tomorrow (well, now
today.) She spent a lot of time with them, and by the time she got to
us, I asked her for a picture and she said "I'm not doing pictures. I
have to go do press. I am the only one doing press today." I was kind
of stung by that. She was a little, well, grouchy. But what made me mad
was then she went down to her friends again for about 20 more minutes.
Whatever. When she walked back by, Mandy said to her "Thanks for taking
time (to sign us autographs) Carly" and Carly just ignored her! And I
know she heard her.
Addendum: I don't mean to imply that Carly is not a nice person. I
think she was frustrated because her friends were there and she
couldn't spend time with them because she had to go do press. I mean,
she could have been nicer, but she was probably just in a bad mood.
It's understandable. She's seemed nice in every other instance.
Soapbox time! I think it's absolute BS that
the Idols have to take time away from the fans to do press. We are the
ones spending the money, buying the tickets and souveniers, buying the
cds, calling in votes which gets AI their big advertising revenue...
take time from someone else, but not the fans!!!
Then there
was... Chikezie. I cannot say enough about how Awesome Chikezie is. He
is such a sweetheart. He takes time for everyone- he gave everyone who
handed him something a hug. He actually had to stop after me to go do
press (I thought Carly was the only one doing press?) but HE came BACK
after press and picked right back up with Carrie where he had left off.
HE is truly awesome!
Last but not least was Brooke. She
sounded like she was a little under the weather, but other than that
she was her wonderful self. She talks to everyone and is very personal
and grounded.
Ramiele and Syesha were no shows. I gave their cards to Brooke to take to them.
Concert Time!
Our seats were INCREDIBLE. I guess it pays to buy from a scalper, no matter how much I hate the idea.
The
show was pretty much the same as St. Louis- everyone sounded awesome.
There was a special tribute for 9/11 of one of the band guys playing
his trumpet. It was beautiful.
Michael Johns really went beserk during Please Don't Stop the Music. It was awesome! They did the Mavid! WOOHOO!
My
memory card filled up during Syesha's performance, so I had to hurry up
and delete off all the blurry pics. Mandy let me borrow her memory card
for the final few numbers. I will post what I have probably tomorrow.
We made it back to Springfield in 3 and a half hours, and that included
a severe thunderstorm, complete with what we thought was hail, AND
massive fog. Yeah. I rock!
All in all, all the time, effort,
money, driving, and sweating was worth it. I don't know when I will
ever see an Idol with this much talent. And there will never be another
Archie for me- not ever. I"ll close with what I wrote in his card.
"I
am not a religious person, but hearing your voice is the closest I've
come to being moved on a spiritual level. This season for me wasn't
about who won, it was about the way I feel when I hear you sing. Thank
you for that."
Earlier in the day of the August 25th Dallas concert, I waited at the arena and met a plethora of nice fans, Archies, WordNerds, etc. I met a very nice lady who was also an Archie fan; as some of the Idols came out to meet fans, I asked if she could use her camera to take a picture of me with Cook and Archie when they came around in the case that my older digital camera was losing battery or malfunctioned at the wrong moment. She graciously agreed and I was very thankful, making sure to thank her and reiterate that it was so nice of her to do so. She also took a picture of me and the Welcome sign I made and asked me for my e-mail address for her to send the pictures to me; I was beyond excited and asked her if I could look at the picture of me and Archie real fast on her camera and she let me. I so wish I could find someone else who met and gave her their e-mail, too.
Here's a pic of the sign minus IDOLS! in glitter at the bottom, but most fans who saw it would recognize it from this:
At this point, I still not have received
my photos by e-mail; it totally slipped my mind to get her e-mail, but
I also noticed that she had other e-mail addresses to send photos to. I
truly want to give her the benefit of the doubt because she really did
seem like a genuinely nice person that wanted to help out a fellow fan,
but I am a bit desperate at this point; I have reasoned in my mind why
she would not send me the photos and nothing rational comes out of
it...I mean she even let me see the photo, what would she do with a
photo of us, ya know? Perhaps, she's been having problems uploading the
pictures, which is fine...but you'd think she would maybe e-mail me
just to update me. I've also thought about the worse case scenario and
hope she is okay and that nothing happened to her, health-wise.
I don't want to be dramatic and sound selfish, but I'm almost desperate
to find her and retrieve my pictures hopefully; I do know there were a
couple of ladies in David shirts that were right next to us, so perhaps
they would remember her, as well. In any case, for the slight chance that someone who met her will see this, she was wearing a black outfit with shorts and a short-sleeve top that had pink flowers.
At the end of the day, I
know it is not a big deal that I do not have the picture with David and
there is so much more going on in the world that is truly a desperate
need calling for desperate measures, but it was moment I was so
grateful for and would love to have back as a memory. I would love for
this to blow over, so I am just hoping and praying that everything
works out; it's like a dream come true with a big token of it missing...I've mentioned it to a few fans on a David fansite and
they've been nothing but nice and reminded me that the image of meeting
Archie in my head means so much more than a picture. That is definitely
true, but I won't lie that I would like my picture.
All in all, I really was truly grateful and thankful for the experience and the opportunity to meet David, so I know I'll always have that memory. :)
When You Say You Love Me from the OKC concert
I arrived downtown where the Ford Center is located probably about 1:00 and it took me probably 15 to 20 min of driving around the block to spot where the meet & greet was going to take place and figure out where I was going to park. While I was driving around though, I saw Kristy Lee leaving on the back of a motorcycle going off someplace. I didn’t notice who was driving the motorcycle though because she was on one of those seats that sits up higher than the driver and she just really stood out. She looked absolutely beautiful. Like a movie star or something, she just grabs your attention. When I got to the meet & greet area, there were maybe 100 people there already. I was a little surprised at the number of teens and kids who were there because school has started and it was still during school hours. I guess some people let their kids skip school for it. There was a section barricaded off for fans to stand behind and there were people all along the whole area. The most people though were on the end by the door where the idols would come out, which also just happened to be the area in the shade, so that’s where I went to stand because it was just too hot to stand out in the sun. I met a nice lady and her husband who were Cook fans and another nice lady who had driven down from Wichita who was also a Cook fan. This was her third concert and the first two she had gone to the meet & greet to meet Cook and he didn’t come out at either of those, so she was still trying to get to meet him. Luckily for her, he did come out for this one. David and Kristy Lee came out at 2:00 and Ramiele, Chickeze, Jason and Brooke came out at various times while David was out there. Kristy Lee was only out for about 15 min. Ramiele wasn’t out long either. Chickeze was out longer and Jason was out quite a while too. David was out the longest though. He spends quite a bit of time chatting with the fans, while the others don’t. They pretty much just sign and move on. David was out from 2:00 until 3:00. Just as he was going in Cook came out. He is very outgoing and was being clowning and making funny faces. He is just a natural born entertainer. Some girls gave him 2 hula hoops, with I’m sure, the hope that he and Michael would use them in their Mavid routine, and sure enough, they did. I stayed until about 3:15 and then left. Michael, Carly and Syesha hadn’t come out and since I left I didn’t know if they did, but after the concert I met up again with the lady from Wichita and she said they never did come out. By the time I left the number of people had grown to probably 150 or 200. I guess after school let out a lot more of the kids were able to get there. It was getting hard to get close enough to see the idols who were out there signing. I went home to eat and freshen up for the concert. When I got to the concert, I had 2 tickets because the first ticket I bought was bought on the first day they went on sale. It wasn’t very close and I wasn’t really happy with it. The day before the concert I went online to see if I could get anything better, because I had heard that they released tickets for better seating that hadn’t sold yet. I found one on the floor that was on the 4 th row, but was the fartherest seat from the stage in the row. I went ahead and got it but I kept the first one just in case I didn’t like the floor. I’m pretty short and since floor seating isn’t elevated I wasn’t sure if I would have a problem seeing over the heads in front of me. I decided to try that seat for the first half and if I didn’t like it I would move to my other seat for the second half. The seat turned out to be ok, although I did have some problems seeing when the idols were out on the ramp that extends into the audience. But I decided to move at intermission, because my seat was right next to where security was sitting, and I tried to video one of Michael Johns’ songs and security stopped me. I still can’t figure out how they knew I was videoing and not taking pictures. Since there’s video all over the internet, I think it’s pretty ridiculous that they stop you from doing it. Anyway, I had every intention of videoing some of David’s songs so I moved to my other seat at intermission. I had to sacrifice being close though. I did a video of Please Don’t Stop the Music too, and Cook did a new thing with David when their both down at the end of the ramp that I think left David a little flummoxed. Afterwards, he didn’t quite seem to know which was to turn. You just have to see it. Chickeze started the concert off with a lot of energy. A lot of the idols do things to rev up the crowd, like telling them to get on their feet or throwing things into the audience. David didn’t do anything like that. He doesn’t really need to. There were some others that didn’t, like Brooke and Jason. Cook does a lot of that. I think he spends more time showboating (I don’t mean that in a bad way) with the audience than he does singing. It just seems to come naturally to him to be very outgoing. All the idols are very talented, but some more than others. I’m not going into a critique of each of them. The ones that stood out for me were Michael Johns, Carly and, of course, David. David was amazing. He was coughing a little bit, but it didn’t effect his singing. He got some very loud screams too, but the loudest screams were for Cook. I knew Oklahoma was a Cook town. Everyone I have talked to about American Idol is a Cook fan. And then, he lived in Tulsa for a while too so I guess people feel like they have a connection with him or something. After the concert I went back out to the meet & greet area to see if I could see David again. There was probably well over 1000 people there though. You couldn’t even begin to get close enough to see any of the idols. I stayed for almost an hour and Kristy Lee and Chickeze had come out, but I could only manage to occasionally get a glimpse of the top of their head and their much taller than David, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to see him at all. It was still very hot even that late at night so I decided to come home. The concert was great, but I’m ready for a concert that is all David. I almost forgot to mention that Cook sent the hula hoop he used for the Mavid dance out with a security guard with instructions to give it to a little kid, so he gave it to a little girl about 7 years old. She was just thrilled. I thought that was a nice thing to do.
Okay, so my summer has been going amazing. Basically the last fun thing I was going to do was the Jonas Brothers Concert which was last night. But now, I get to look forward to the Idols Concert!! I'm definitely not close for this one, so I only hope my Archey Report is good. But either way, I'm excited to be going and I will try my best to get some good pictures, although I don't know if I will be able to. And anyone know where to catch the fanblast people!? (:
So me and my sister got to the concert site at about 11:45 am. we found out where the buses were parking, but when we got to the bus area we were told tha they were setting up an area for the Idols to come out and sign stuff from 2-4 pm at the front of the forum, so we headed back to the front. we were in the front row, and actually made cool friends with some David Cook fans that were standing next to us. It totally rained and and i got a sunburn, but it was worth it. at about 12:30 pm the first Idols came out. Jason, David A, Syesha, Ramiele, and Kristy. David got to us first, because he crossed over and started on the far side. he seemed to be in a huge hurry, and was only signing stuff and accepting gifts, he didnt have time to take pics with us :( but he was still really sweet! then Ramiele and Syesha came by back to back, they both also seemed in a hurry, although not quite as much as David. They didnt stop for many pics either though. Archie had already gone inside by time they passed us, and those two followed pretty quickly. Im guessing this is because those three have family in this area that was visiting. Next to reach us was Kristy Lee Cook. she was really nice, and totally laid back. i really liked her in person. it was funny to watch her run away from the rain though! she actually went inside, then came BACK out and signed some more stuff and took more pics. when she went in Jason was the only one left outside, and i must say he spent TONS of time with all his fans, he was out there the longest i think. he was quite entertaining actually, and he took pics with EVERYONE! he even held their cameras for them and took the pictures himself! it was cool. As Jason was finishing up, David C came out, and to every one's surprise he had Lindsey Rose with him (the little girl who he wore the bracelet for all season). It was really sweet to see her get to take pics with fans and sign autographs :) David C took a lot of time with all his fans too, cutting up, taking the time to look in the bags ppl gave him, taking pics (one with a sharpie up his nose!) and dancing to Thriller! lol he was cool. He took so much time the security told him he couldnt stop for any more pics! but he still gave lot of hugs, and he even kissed the girl next to me on he cheek! she was so excited, it was cute. So the last person out was Brooke. She also took lots of time with her fans, and i have to say she is SO PRETTY in person!!!! and shes really nice. she told us that they werent gonna be signing anything at the buses that night after the concert cuz they had to leave immediately :( so no chance to get a pic with Archie or Carly's autograph... Carly,Michael, and Chikezie never came out. i was a lil sad, but nothing could dampen the fact that i met ARCHIE!!!! :)
So in the concert they started with some cheesy "pump up the crowd stuff" then finally brought out the idols, one by one count down style. the first performance to REALLY catch the crowd was Michael! it was GREAT! especially his last song "Dream On" . Kristy was also considerably better in person. Carly is AMAZING!!!!! i always thought she should have been top 3. although i didnt much dig her rendition of Evanescence, i LOVED her other two songs, she just kept getting better and better! and when they did the first group number with the bottom 6, Carly and Michael sang a duet part of it that was breath taking! i was so happy they got to sing together!!!! so then intermission blah blah blah more pump up the crowd... and then they bring out Jason... and the crowd EXPLODED!!!!! u hadnt heard cheering til u heard the crowd for Jason! intense. i didnt really like him singing Crazy ( i like david's version ALOT more), but his other two songs were really good! Syesha was next, and to be honest, she was alot more friendly on stage then at the signing... i liked her second song... but the rest didnt really do it for me. i was too excited that David was coming next!!!! i actually taped ALL of archie's performances, although i had a malfunction and may have lost the last one :( so he came up through the floor on the piano and the crowd went CRAZY!!!!!!!! it was nuts! he was everything i'd hoped for! ESPECIALLY the last song. i just sat there and was amazed the whole time! it was really amazing!!! (and now my thraot is sore from screaming my head off). Finally David C came out and again th crowd exploded!!! he was really good, better than on the show in my opinion! and he earned MEGA bonus points when he dedicated the song Hero to Lindsey Rose and told her he owed being the american idol to her!!!! :) he was REALLY funny too. but im afraid he has a slight cold cuz he drink something at the end of the first song and as he was throwing it off the stage he said it was cold medicine. so the group song was cheesy as always, and i laughed when they had archie singing about acting naughty, but it was entertaining. i loved the part when the two davids went on the island that sticks out from the stage and DC like got on his knees, and Archie was jumping up and down pointing at him! then he tried to help DC up but david wouldnt get up! lol. and that's the show!
I didn’t get home from the Charlotte show until 3:00am because I got lost in Charlotte…LOL. I somehow kept coming back to the same location, no matter how many different roads I took. It was very strange…haha! The boys were asleep in the back seat, so they were not much help and I had dropped my new IPhone and broke it when I saw David wearing my necklace…so, I couldn’t use the built-in GPS ! At one point, I passed the AI buses as I was circling around the city…LOL! They were heading down the road away from the venue!! If all the streets hadn’t been one way, I could have possibly gotten turned around and followed them out of there! But, by the time I got turned around, they were out of sight….dang it! Anyway, I got home and finally crawled into bed at 4:00am. I was back up at 7:00am to start my day for the Duluth concert.
I arrived in Duluth around 11:30 and met up with John (archiefanatic) and Valerie(tabbycat221). They both are such lovely people and I had a great time getting to know each of them. John was sooooo much fun and he and I had a lot of good laughs throughout the day and during the concert! When I arrived, there was not a lot of people gathered, which I found to be really cool. The less people that are there, the better chances you have at getting pictures made with David!!! As the time went by, more people showed up, but it wasn’t really that bad. While we were standing there, some Cook fans started putting up a HUGE banner that had been signed by hundreds of fans and I noticed that at the very bottom of the banner, David Archuleta had signed it!! I thought that was really cool, so I took a photo of it! We continued to stand there for a while and then Ray came out to inform us that the Idols would not be signing. He said they had a Larry King Live taping and that we were welcome to hang around, but they were definitely not going to be making an appearance. There were lots of disappointed fans and you could just see the sadness in everyone’s faces. John, Valerie, and I decided to go eat and goof off until time to come back for the concert. After we ate, John wanted to go get checked into his hotel, so Valerie and I decided to head to the mall and look around for a while. We both were wearing David Archuleta buttons, although they didn’t have his name on them…just his face. Everyone in the mall appeared to be staring at us as we walked by…LOL. It was very funny. I decided I needed an extra battery for my camera, so we tried to find a store that sold batteries. We ended up asking these two salesmen from Verizon if they knew where the closest Circuit City was and during our conversation, we began talking about David! One of the salesmen said that David was going to have a “killer” album and the other guy didn’t know who David was…so, the salesman mentioned American Idol…which I thought was really cool. We stood there talking to them for about 10 minutes and I felt really proud of David at that point!
Valerie and I made our way to Circuit City and I bought an extra battery and a 4gb memory card for my camera. I was determined to get some good video and photos! As we were standing in line to be checked out, the cashier looked at my button and asked “ Oh, is that your son ”??? I burst out laughing…laughing really hard, in fact…and I told her NO!! She looked at me and said “ Well, he could be ”!! I was laughing even harder at this point and I could tell that she was really embarrassed about what she had just said. She started trying to apologize for her comment, but the more she tried, the worse it sounded…LOL! I finally told her that she should just stop trying to talk…LOL! She said “ Yeah, I seem to be putting my foot in my mouth ”! Valerie and I laughed all the way to the car.
We arrived back at the venue and stood in line to enter the building. As we were standing there, I spotted Daniel walking around in the crowd, so I snapped a few pictures of him! We got inside and found our seats, which were awesome! They were supposed to be row N, but the way the stage was set up…we were on the 4 th row from the stage and with an awesome view! We were all pretty excited! They started playing the Guitar Hero commercial and no one was making any noise, so every time they showed David, I screamed really loud. It was actually quite funny! John just laughed at me…LOL! The concert was awesome…as usual. I won’t go into detail since I just gave my Charlotte report, but I did have something funny to say about yesha. While she was singing, three fans in front of us stood up and I leaned over to John and said…” Look John!! There are Syesha’s only three fans ”!! LOL!! It was pretty darn funny. I guess you had to be there or had to know the story behind that to understand its humor!
I left before David Cook’s set because I wanted to get a good place in the line for the autograph signing. John and I got a really good spot. We stood there for a while and the Idols finally started making their way outside. Syesha came by and I decide I would tell her how much I loved her legs (she has killer muscles in her legs). I asked her if she worked out and she said…” No, I get that from dancing. I have been dancing my entire life ”. She continued to talk to me, which I found really refreshing. She didn’t seem to have that bad attitude. I was thinking she was quite nice. Someone mentioned to her that they liked her shirt and she began talking about it being a gift from one of her fans and how the scarf she was wearing was also a gift. She then showed me one of her bracelets that said “Keep Smiling” and she said that she usually wrote that on her autographs but she had to cut it short recently, so she hadn’t been writing that. I told her how cool I thought it was that they all were so willing to wear the gifts that were given to them and she said “ Oh yeah…if it’s nice ”!! OMG!!! I couldn’t believe she just said that…LOL! I was in shock that she would say such a thing. So, was she saying that she would only wear something if it was really nice? John and I found that to be funny. I couldn’t wait to tell Rickey about my conversation with her!!
David finally made his appearance and he was speeding through the line. There were so many security guards standing around, that it was very hard to get photos. I said hi to Ray and he said hi to me! We waited patiently for David to make his way to us and before we knew it, there he was! He was signing away and even sang a few lyrics…although I cannot tell you what they were. I really wish someone had some video! He was still wearing the necklace I had given him the night before, which made me smile from ear to ear!
Jeff came by and I said hello to him and told him that I was the girl from Charlotte who had given him the personalized hat. He was surprised to see me there! He thanked me again for the hat and he hugged my neck. He was soooo very nice and just had the biggest smile on his face! I didn’t get to meet Lupe, although I did see her and other members of the family standing outside. I got some pictures, but I was pretty far back…so they are not good.
After everyone was finished signing, Ray came walking by me. I decided I was going to ask him for a picture. He was shocked that I would want my picture taken with him, but he was smiling really big! He slid his arm around me and I told him I loved that he was there for David! He said thank you and I thanked him…and he walked off!
I got into my car and drove the 2 ½ hour drive back home. I got home at 2:30 and I was exhausted. I had not had much sleep over the last few days and I honestly don’t think I could have made it three days in a row!
But, now that I am all rested up…I’m ready for another one!
My Concert Report: Part 1- Charlotte
I must say that I have just experienced two of the BEST days of my life! I honestly don’t think anything will ever top this. My report is for both days, even though I was only a cellcaster for the Charlotte show and not for Duluth.
When I originally purchased my tickets to the Charlotte concert, I got section 225, row B. I was not happy with those seats at all. So, I decided to find someone who would be willing to purchase better seats and split the cost with me. I found tickets on Ebay, so I gave my other tickets to my son, Blake, and his friend, Tyler. I am so glad that I decided to do that because I ended up being on the 4 th row from the stage!! It was awesome!
I spent most of Saturday finishing up my poster, getting my t-shirt finished, and talking to Kristi Howard on the phone (getting updates from the Lexington concert). Kristi called me from the afterparty and said “ I have someone here who wants to say hey ”…or something along those lines…LOL! I honestly don’t remember! The next thing I know, David was on the telephone saying “ Hey, Wanda ”! OMG!!!!!! David was saying hi to me!!! He actually said my name!!! I had the biggest lump in my throat at that point and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to speak without crying, but I managed to say “ Hi, David ”!! I will never be able to thank Kristi enough for doing that for me. She is a doll! I love you Kristi!!! Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep Saturday night! It didn’t matter, though….I spoke to David Archuleta on the telephone!!! Who needs sleep anyway????
I woke up Sunday morning around 7:00am (after only getting about 3 hours of sleep). I was pretty tired, but very eager to get to Charlotte! I met up with Erika (archuleta_addict) and her son, Andrew, at the Bobcat Arena around 11:00am. It wasn’t long before Kathy (arch4me) joined us. It was so nice to finally meet everyone in person. I just adore Erika and her son, Andrew. I have designated them as my e-mom and brother…LOL! We all got in line and began our wait, which ended up being about 3 ½ hours. It was cloudy and even drizzled a little, but just before David came out, the sun began to shine very brightly!!
When the Idols began to make their appearance, my stomach began doing flip flops. I realized that it was finally here….I was going to see David in person!! What was I going to say to him? OMG!! I was a nervous wreck. I tried to get myself together and was doing considerably well….until I saw David Cook. All I can say is “WOW”!! Now, I must admit that I have never liked David Cook at all. Not so much because of his singing…but, because he won AI and our David didn’t. I know, I know…not a good reason at all! So, I decided I was going to ask David to sign my picture, although I hadn’t been planning to before. As he made his way toward me, I looked up at him and said…” OMG, you are so handsome ”! He looked at me directly in the eyes and said “ Thank you .” OMG!! Did I just say that to David Cook?? What in the world was I thinking…LOL??? Well, at any rate, he is quite handsome in person! So, now that I had embarrassed myself with David Cook, I was afraid of what I might do when our David was standing before me. Maybe I shouldn’t say anything at all when he comes by………
Michael Johns was next. He is just the sweetest thing ever. He is quite funny and he was actually my favorite after David. So, when he came by, I asked if I could have my picture taken with him and he said “ Sure….but, I am not David Archuleta ”….referring to my t-shirt…LOL! I told him that it was alright…that I loved him too! So, he put his arm around me to take the picture and I was thrilled! Later, I realized that my son had not completely pressed the shutter button and didn’t get the picture…grrrrrr!! My son felt really bad and kept apologizing. Bless his heart. I told him not to worry about it…I was there for one person only!! Jason Castro came by and he was soooo nice to everyone and very attentive to all the fans screaming his name (and there were many). He visited with everyone for what seemed like forever and was very good about taking pictures with everyone. I had my photo taken with him, but it will remain unseen. Whoever took the photo got too close and I look as though I have 15 chins…LOL!! Jason, of course, is gorgeous! When he signed his name, he drew the little face with the dreadlocks…haha! When David finally made his appearance, the crowd went crazy! He was smiling that gorgeous smile…waving to everyone! He started at the opposite end, so we had to wait a while for him to get to us. The wait was excruciating and my nerves began to get the better of me. I kept telling myself that I would be fine, not to worry about it. It didn’t work. Before I realized it, David was standing in front of me and I couldn’t think of one single thing to say to him. I finally managed to say “ Hi, David…I’m Wanda. You said hello to me on the phone last night ”. He looked up at me and said “ Oh yeah! Hey! How are you doing ”? I told him I was nervous and he just laughed and said “ Awww ”. I handed David my bag of gifts and he said “ Oh gosh, thanks ”! He slid the bag onto his arm with the others and then he looked at the poster I had made for him. It said “Conditioner Loves Crush” and it had an adorable goldfish listening to an mp3 player. The song he was listening to was “Crush” and I had some of the lyrics in a little talk bubble above his head as if he were singing along to the song…LOL! David laughed at the poster and then I got a photo of him holding it. I have no idea why I didn’t ask him for a picture with me instead of the poster, but I obviously wasn’t coherent at the time. I am still really sad about that. But, I did get a hug, so I am happy about that! He smelled sooooo good. I don’t think he smelled like Nutmeg and Cinnamon, though. He was definitely wearing cologne. David was there with me for only a few minutes and then he was gone. I was elated for having had the opportunity to speak to him, yet sad that the time had gone by so quickly. He was absolutely breathtaking. His eyes…OMG…his eyes!! His lips are beautiful and I couldn’t help but stare at them as he was chewing his gum…LOL!! When Kathy and I got to our seat that night, we both shouted hysterically about how close we were to the stage. Our view was amazing. My son and his friend were up in section 225 and I honestly felt bad that I had given him such bad seats…LOL! When Chikeize came out, I was amazed at how good he is live. He has a wonderful stage presence and is full of personality. I would certainly buy his album and wouldn’t think twice about it. Chikeize later proved what a good hearted person he really is by jumping the barriers to pose for a picture with a handicapped girl sitting beside me. He was so sweet and attentive to her, making her feel really special. Her mother was crying tears of happiness and I nearly choked up myself. I thought Ramiele’s set was okay. She is cute as a button, for sure, but her performances seemed a little cheesy to me. I think she has a beautiful voice, so maybe it’s just her choice of songs for the tour. I don’t know. I will make up my mind about her if she ever puts out an album. I LOVED Michael Johns set!! He is so much fun to watch on stage! I hope to see him put out an album really soon because I would hate to see him disappear when the tour is over. I have not been very fond of Kristy Lee Cook, but she is certainly a very beautiful girl and I actually enjoyed her set. She knows how to work the crowd…LOL! I think I will enjoy her music, but not enough to buy her album. I was blown away by Carly!! She is so beautiful in person and I loved how they had her hair blowing during the first song!! It was kind of sexy and I couldn’t help but think of Rickey the whole time and how much he loves Carly…LOL! She is so sweet, too. I love her accent and the fact that her husband is from N.C. is really cool. Brooke is just beautiful in person. OMG! She has the most amazing hair and she has a gorgeous smile! I loved her all throughout AI and I thought she was awesome at the concert. I can’t wait to buy her album! Jason has to be one of the most handsome men I have ever met…aside from David Archuleta, of course! He has an amazing smile and his eyes are just as beautiful. But, as much as I love Jason’s looks, I am not a lover of his singing. He definitely sounds better live than he did on television, but I doubt I would buy his album. I guess we will see. I was more impressed with Syesha than I thought I would be. I think she can sing beautifully. I just don’t like her attitude. When David was rising from beneath the stage, my heart began to race like crazy. I couldn’t believe I was actually seeing him live! I just stood there in awe throughout his entire set. His voice is out of this world. I literally had chills the whole time and I was on the verge of tears during “When You Say You Love Me”. I was trying to take pictures and watch him sing at the same time, so that made the set seem to go by extra fast. My hands were shaking so much that I could barely hold the camera still long enough to take pictures. He didn’t really talk much between his songs…basically saying the same thing he always does. It didn’t matter though because what little he does say is so precious and heartfelt that you just want to put your arms around him and let him know just how proud of him you are!!! I was really disappointed in the reception he received in Charlotte, though. I don’t think he got nearly enough applause. That may have just been my perception, though. Someone else might disagree with me. In a matter of minutes, he was gone from the stage and his set was over. I couldn’t help but think about the future and how nice it will be to see him out on his own…where everyone is there to see him and him only!! David Cook was the most surprising to me of them all. I actually enjoyed him. He is definitely more seasoned with the crowd that anyone else and he knows how to get everyone on their feet. He took a drink from his water bottle and then tossed it out into the crowd, which sparked a lot of applause. He then filmed the crowd with his camera, getting even more applause. When he sings, he has a way of pausing through certain parts of the song so that it draws even more applause. I was just amazed at how good he really is. I started feeling guilty about all the hard feelings I had against him…knowing it really wasn’t him I was angry with anyway. I think I have a new perspective now and I think I might even buy his CD. All in all, the entire show was phenomenal and I had a blast. When I got outside and met up with my son, he was smiling from ear to ear with excitement. He gushed about how much fun he had and how great David was. He even recorded him on his cell phone so he could let his friends at school listen!! We headed for the line so that we could try to get another glimpse of David before we left for home and we were lucky enough to get a good spot at the front of the barrier…about middle ways down the line. It wasn’t long before the line was about 5 or 6 rows deep and everyone was pushing and shoving to the point that I was getting squished up against the barrier. It was really crazy. I’m only going to tell about my time with David since this is so long, but it’s the most important to me anyway. When David finally came out, the crowd went just as crazy as they had earlier that day. David was still smiling (I wonder if he smiles in his sleep, the shower, etc) and he waved to everyone. I couldn’t see him that well but I have a 15x zoom on my camera, so I was taking pictures like crazy, trying to get as many as possible. As he started getting closer, I heard someone say something to him about his necklace. I couldn’t hear what they said, but he responded “ Awww, thanks! One of my fans gave it to me today ”. I looked up to see that he was wearing one of the necklaces I had just given to him at the pre-show signing!! OMG!!!! I couldn’t believe that he was actually wearing it, much less that soon!! I got so excited, I said “ OMG…I gave you that necklace ”! David looked up at me and said “ It was you? Oh gosh, thanks ”! This particular necklace had a special meaning and I wrote about it in my letter to him, which I included with the gifts. This necklace is called “The Life Compass” and instead of having the normal N, S, E, and W letters on it…it has the letters G, F, F, K. Those letters stand for God, Family, Friends, and Knowledge. On the back of the necklace, it is engraved with the message: “This is your journey….choose the right path”. The reason I chose this particular necklace to give to David was because I had wanted to give him a compass…something that would always help him find his way back home, should he ever start to feel lost or all alone. In my search for the compass, I found this necklace and it was the most perfect thing I could have ever found. I wrote all of this in my letter and I explained to David how much he meant to me and the meaning behind the necklace. Seeing him wearing it absolutely made my day and I don’t think I could have been any happier than I was at that moment! My other gift to him was a Silver “Envelope Locket” that really opens and closes. Inside the locket, there was two removable Silver inserts that I had engraved a short “fan letter” from me to David on. I kept it short, but sweet and then I engraved my name, the venue, and AI Live Tour 2008 on it as well. On the outside flap, I had his initials monogrammed on it. In my letter to David, I explained to him that he might think this particular gift was a little feminine and if so, he was not obligated to wear it at all. I just told him that I wanted to give him something that was different from every other fan letter he might ever receive and that it came from my heart. If he were to ever wear that locket, I would absolutely cry. Jeff came by soon after and I gave him his gift, which was a personalized hat that I had made for him. It has an “A” on the front and then “Archuleta” written across the back. He loved it and couldn’t believe that I had it custom made for him. He hugged my neck and just looked at me in astonishment. I told him I just loved him and was so proud of David and of him as well. He thanked me again and asked me my name. I just couldn’t believe the day I had had. It was more than I could have ever asked for!! I left the venue with the biggest smile on my face and I drove home listening to David on my IPod. I climbed into bed around 3:45am and got up at 7:00am to get ready for my trip to Duluth. I will post that report shortly. I have over 500 pictures to upload, so as soon as I get them uploaded, I will post a link! Duluth report coming up!!
August 19, 2008
I got to the venue at just after 11am. Tabbycat was just getting there
as well. I introduced myself to her and we walked towards the venue to
find where we would need to be for autographs. Just as we got there,
the security people we setting up the gates right in front of the
arena. So, we both went to our cars and got our stuff. There were not
many people there so getting in front of the line was easy for us.
Soon, after we got in line, Wanda called to get directions to the venue
as she left her directions at home. She was not far and soon joined us.
Again, it was so nice to finally meet Wanda and Tabby. They are both
beautiful people inside and out. I really enjoyed their company.
Fortunately, it was not super hot and we did have shade from the
building for most of the time we were there. There were more wordnerd
and dreadheads there than angels. It was probably 40% cookies, 40%
dreadheads and 20% angels. That made us a little concerned for the
concert and the kind of reception that David might receive. But we did
not let that ruin our stay there. We did meet a very nice lady that
posts on a private site with only about 10 members. She did not say the
name of the site. She did say she also goes to fanblast.
So, fast forward three hrs. and Ray came out to say that none of the
idols would be coming out because they were doing an interview with
Larry King @3 pm (to be aired this Friday @ 9pm eastern time.) So,
there were a few unhappy people at that time. Ray did say that we were
welcome to stay but they definitely were not
coming out. I think he said since they were all done with their hair
and make up for the interview, coming out in the heat and humidity
would mess everything up and then would have to be completely redone
for the concert. yada, yada, yada.
We decided to leave and get some lunch and
had a nice time getting to know each other. After that, I went to check
into my hotel and Wanda and Tabby went to get some camera batteries. We
decided to meet at the venue at about 6 pm.
I got there a
little before six and waited outside of the venue for Wanda and Tabby.
On the way in, Wanda noticed David's brother Danial outside the arena
with some friend/relatives. We had heard the Davids family was going to
be there. Once inside, we got some water and headed for our really good
seats. They were a little to the right of center stage about 10 rows
back. Not to shabby.
Everyone's set sounded pretty much the
same as Sat. in Lexington. It was nice to be a little further back and
be able to see the whole stage. I also did not take as many pictures
this time because I wanted to sit back and enjoy the music.
Carly did mention that she lived
in Georgia for a while and had family and friends there too.
During the intermission, we went to the restrooms and on the way back,
I saw Jeff talking to some people. We stopped to say hi but he seemed
in a hurry and did not notice us. To bad because it would have been
great to meet the family.
I thought David sounded, if it is at
all possible, better last night than he did in Lexington. He did
mention after WYSYLM that his family was somewhere in the audience. I
am sure that was made it very special for him as I am sure he misses
his mom and siblings very much. And I am also sure that motivated him to have a
stellar performance. The reception was excellent for David. I was so
happy to hear the clapping and screaming for him and to see the
standing ovations after each performance. He did mention after SBM,
that he could feel the energy in the arena. I am glad his family was
there to witness the archulove for him.
Wanda and I left after Cookie's 1st song so we could
get front and center for the signing outside after the meat and greet.
Tabby wanted to stay until the end since this was her one and only concert. There
were not to many people lined up when we first got outside, but soon it
became very crowded. I guess a lot of people left during Cookie's set.
lol. Tabby called after PDSTM to find out where we were. It took a while,
but she finally got through the crowd to where we were. At about 11pm.
Carly came out. She stood to talk to some family/friends for a while.
Before she started signing autographs, KLC came out. Carly stated soon
after that. Then Brooke came out and when she got to me she looked at
me and said, "hey, you were at last night's concert" I was floored and
speechless that she remembered me. I couldn't speak to tell her that it
was actually at the concert two night's ago that she saw me. Again,
shaking hands and jello legs. Soon Ramiele and yesha came out and did
there thing. Syesha did get a lot of love during her set, so perhaps
that is why she came out after the meet and greet. Jason was next and
the screams were deafening. And then lastly, our boy wonder. Again
deafening screams for him. Wanda noticed that he was wearing the
necklace that she gave him so she was snapping a lot of pics of him
as he was making his way towards us. As he got in front of me, I said,
"hi, David. I like your necklace. Where did you get it from". He said,
"aw thanks, it was a gift." Wanda yelled "it was from me." So David
Looked right at her and said, "oh, hey there" and moved on. We had this
planned out before he got to us just to engage him in a friendly short
exchange, and it was a cool moment for Wanda.
Ray came out right before David was done and said, DC, MJ and Chikezie
would not be coming out. So we decided to leave. Both Wanda and Tabby
drove home last night. I hated to see them do that since it was a
little over 2 hrs of driving for each of them. But they did and we said
our good byes.
Once again, Wanda and Tabby are just wonderful. I can't believe how
fortunate I am to know such nice people. I guess if you think about the
kind of person David is, it should be no surprise that the people that
love and respect him would have similar traits as he has.
So, over the past three days, I have been to two concerts, got
sunburned, live on about 10 hrs sleep total, made amateurish posters,
traveled close to 7oo miles, spent hundreds of dollars on food,
lodging, gas, tickets, souvenirs/t-shirts, water and snacks. And I
loved every minute of it. I would do it again in a heatbeat. As I said,
it was the best time of my life. This is something that will not happen
very often and as David goes out on his own and becomes even more
popular, he will perhaps not be able to be as available to us as he is
now.
My wish is that everyone gets a chance to see and hear
him live someday. It is truly an experience to behold and you will
never forget that day you heard him on stage.

August 17, 2008
Rewind to 11:00 am on Sat. Aug. 16th. When I got to the venue parking lot, there were 3 buses parked in the lot. Of course I thought there is no way that the idols' buses would be parked there. (more on that later.) So I grabbed my backpack w/all of the essentials needed for a comfy wait, my posters and gifts, and headed into the venue to find out where I needed to be. A very rude person at the ticket window told me in the parking lot across the street. So high tailed it back to my car and just to wait. I thought it odd that there were no people lined up as it was
close to 11:30. I decided to leave my stuff in my car and just walk around the buses to see if I could see any activity ( I did this twice), but I saw nothing. I went back to the venue and found a security guard to ask and he said they would be in the parking lot behind the venue.
So, I raced back to my car to get my stuff and then back to where I should be. As I was making my way to where I needed to be, Kristi called me to see if I had arrived yet and she said she was about 10 minutes away. I told her where I would be for signing autographs. When I arrived at the correct place, there were 150 - 200 people waiting. I found a place to stand and met a couple of people that post on Notingdavid.org. They were very nice and we had a good archufilled conversation. Not to long after that, Kristi called me to see where I was and invited me to join her and Dominic. I found them and we all got acquainted with each other. Soon after that, Beene and her daughter (very cute, I might add) came along and then soon after that, Inspired called and we directed her to where we were. It was very nice getting to know these people that I talk to almost everyday. It is amazing the friendships that have been made because of David. We were able to get some pictures of each other and get to know one another. As we were waiting, we noticed that there were 3 buses + the guitar hero bus near the back loading dock area. I just figured that those were the idols. No, they weren't. The 3 buses that I noticed in the parking lot near my car were the idol buses. You know, the same three buses that I walked around a few times looking for some activity. I am sure that the idols got a chuckle out of that. Anyway, the idol buses finally pulled into the arena parking lot and parked near the others in the loading dock area. While we were waiting for the idols to come out, there was a very nice lady that was driving by the line of people with her window down and she was playing all David's songs. It was great and it helped to make the time go by a little faster. She did this several times and she played "Crush" as David was near the end of the line signing autographs and I think he sang along for a moment. I'm not sure as I was not really close as that point.
Not to long after they arrived, we noticed all of them (except for David A) come off of their respective buses and go into the arena. At about 2 pm Carly and KLC came out and of course they started at the opposite end from where we were. They came through pretty quickly as they both had press to do. I got both of their autographs and thanked them for what they do. KLC is pretty dang nice looking - HOT comes to mind, but I digress. Anyway, she commented that this was stop was the best fan response for her and she had a lot of gifts. I guess it makes sense because she is a country girl and this was in Kentucky. To me, it seamed all of the girls got good responses from the southern fans.
At about 2:30 the man of the hour came out. He had the biggest smile on his face and was waving to all of us as he made his way to the line. But of course, he started on the other end of the line. That was ok as it gave us a chance to get out thoughts and stuff together. So as David made his way towards us, the excitement and nerves grew. I was not able to take to many pictures of him as he stopped in front of me b/c I was trying to carry a sign, his gift, my camera, and my tour book for him to sign. I have decided when you only have two hands, it is not possible to carry all of that. Since autographs and pictures were the most important at that moment, I just dropped everything else. When he stopped in front of me, I said "hi, David". At that point he was rushing to get through the rest of the line, so he did not answer. I asked him to please sign my book and I handed him the gift bag and he said "for me?" and I said yes and he said "aw, thanks". And he was gone. Next out was Brooke. She started at our end of the line! What a sweetheart she is. She either did not have press that day or it was done before she came out as she was able to spend over an hour out there. I was able to get my book signed and a picture with her. The last one to come out was Jason. He started in the middle and worked his way towards us. I had him sign my book and thanked him. I did notice David Cook out signing at the other end. I don't know when he came out nor did I hear any screaming like there was for David A or JC. But when DC got to the middle of the line, he had to leave to do press. Our end was not to happy about that. Kristi and her sister left to go to their hotel at about 3:00 and Dominic and Inspired left soon after that. I stayed until about 4 pm. Beene was going to go shortly after that.
I got back to the vunue at about 6:15. Traffic was pretty bad. One would have thought that there was a concert that night. lol. I finally made it to the parking lot and had to park waaaaaayyyyy far away. It was about 6:45 when I sat at my seat. My seat was three rows from the stage on the left side. In my immediate section, it was a mixed crowd of families for our David and cougars for Cook. Fast forward to the start of the show.
Chikezie in my opinion was on fire. He sounded great and had awesome stage presence. I have read that he has it tough because not only is he opening the show, but there are still people coming in or others are still getting settled. So he does have a few challenges to work with.
Ramiele is a cute a can be. She is just so tiny (4' 11", I think). Her voice was not to bad. She did sound better than on the show. She did dedicate her 2nd song to her cousin that passed away only a day earlier and I could tell she was a little emotional at that moment.
MJ was rocking the house with his set. Great sound and he hopefully will get a cd made. He should do well.
My new sweetie and hopefully a Nashville neighbor, KLC was great. I liked her set. God Bless the USA is always a favorite of mine and she did well.
Carly with the big vocals. Wow, she can belt out a tune. I liked her set a lot and she also should get a record deal and make some music.
Another sweetheart - Brooke was next. I like when she plays the piano while singing. She does it twice in her set and "Let it Be" is a great song.
So it is intermission time and I decide to find the other angels. Surprisingly, I found them without any problem. Before I could say to much, Dominic handed me a piece of paper that had a pic. of the idols on it. I asked him what it was and he said it is a back stage pass. Of course I said "oh yea right". He said yes it really is a pass for you. I just stood there, probably with my mouth open, and said nothing for what seemed like a long time. I was speechless to say the least. After the initial shock, I shook his hand and thanked him over and over again. I went back to my seat for the rest of the concert with shaking hands and jello like legs.
Mr low key, take it easy kind of guy, Jason was next. His voice did sound good and like all of them, he sounds better live. The dreadheads were in full force.
Syeshia with the big...um nostrils. Is that what they are called? My goodness. This girl can sing. What a great voice. I really loved her rendition of "Listen".
So this is the moment I have been waiting for. Syeshia is about to announce that the next performer is David Archuleta.
When he came up on the riser on the piano and started singing "Angels", There was not another person in the audience or not a single person was standing or clapping or screaming because my whole focus and attention were on that amazing voice. "Apologize" was hauntingly beautiful and yes, fangirls, the hunkerdowns were definitely there. "Stand by Me/Beautiful Girls" was so good and he just commands the stage with that song. And then the wonderful heartfelt song to express his love to his fans, "When You Say You Love Me". It was just breathtaking and a perfect way to end his extremely short set.
Lastly is the Cookmeister. I have said it before and I'll say it again. He is loud and proud. He sounded good and he certainly knows how to get the crowd onto it's feet. No doubt he will do extremely well in the music business. He did say that his dad lived in Kentucky and was in the audience, so I am sure that made it special for him. I also noticed that he had little or no guyliner on. I don't know why. Maybe they ran out. Who knows.
"Please Don't Stop the Music" The best part for me is when the Davids move to the center circle of the stage and Cook bows down to acknowledge Archie and Archie responds by jumping up and down while pointing to Cook. It is great to see the friendship between these two.
Now for the meet and great. I was still in shock and I had no idea what I was going to say. I also did not have anything for any of the idols to sign because I was not expecting to be there. But I am so not complaining. We were the 1st to walk in and I saw Cook and then a few feet from him were our David and KLC watching the Olympics. Kristi and I decided to go to Archie first before he was surrounded by people. Kristi spoke to him first and then I introduced myself to him and shook his hand. I asked him how he was and he said, "fine, thanks". I congratulated him on the success of his single and that I really liked it. He said, "aw, thanks. That means a lot to me". I noticed that the lines were getting pretty long so just as we were about to say good bye, David looks at us and asked if we had any gum. I probably looked shocked because he then said he felt he needed it to freshen his breath before meeting people. Both Kristi and I said no we did not have any, but a nice women behind us gave him some. So we moved away for others to talk to him. I think what shocked me the most about the gum question is at that moment, I realized that I was indeed talking to a 17 yr old and not the mature beyond his years singer that just blew me away about an hour ago with his 4 - song set. Also, this is something that you would ask a friend, not complete strangers that you had just met. And that reveled to me that he treats anyone he meets as a friend as long as they are respectful to him. For some reason that just stood out for me.
I decided to hang around David just to see him interact with his fans. I am more than ever before in awe of the kindness and generosity of this young man. While I was there, I saw him spend a lot of time with two people that were both in wheel chairs. One of the women was so moved by being near him, that she could hardly speak. I was getting a little chocked up at that point, so I decided to move on. By that time, all 10 of the idols were in the room. I had an opportunity speak to all of them and Jeff as well. I went back to David and just as I got there he was in the middle of a conversation with someone. I heard him say that Cook was a good juggler, and he could not do it very well. He then proceeded to demonstrate his juggling by using three sharpies. It didn't go very well. Someone pointed out to him that it would be easier if he had small round objects - like ping pong balls - rather than pens and he agreed with that. It was just another moment of treating strangers like friends.
I found Kristi and Dominic. The crowds were thinning out a bit so we made our way back to David. I had an opportunity to get my picture taken with him this time. It was about 11:15 and he commented that he needed to get outside to sign autographs for them. David was the last idol to leave. He can't turn anyone away. It is just not in his nature to do something like that. I felt bad for him. I figured that the crowds would be huge outside and that would mean he would have to rush through to try to get to everyone. He would then have to do it all over again the next day. We said our good byes, wished him well and thanked him for everything.
As I write this, I am still trying to process the entire day. I have to say it was, without a doubt, the best day of my life. I will never forget the 12 hr. day filled with someone who can move, inspire and change people with just a few words or a song. I am trying to figure out what makes David such a draw to millions of people and how is he able to do what he does. I think in my mind, he has been chosen, anointed or whatever by God be a teacher of faith, prayer, love, forgiveness, humility, and kindness. And he does this with his words, actions, personality and most of all his vocals. I feel that those of us who get David are blessed to be a small part of this amazing journey. For those that do not get him or do not want to get him, I feel bad for them as they are missing out on something wonderful. I do hope there comes a day when doubters will see "the light" the shines from David and will at least give him a chance to show what he is made of and not be afraid.
Lastly, I want to thanks the 4 angels from Rickeys for sharing this experience with me and for making me feel apart of the efamily.
Kristi, you are such a sweet, caring person. I am so glad that you got to meet David and get your hug(s).
Dominic - it was a pleasure to meet you and I will never forget the moment you handed me the back stage pass. That made an already awesome day even better.
Beene you are an extremely nice warm person and it was very nice to meet you as well
Inspired, It was so nice meeting you. We did not have much of a chance to talk. I hope we can meet again and get more acquainted.

Archey Report – Washington DC – August 14, 2008
The Buses
August 14, 2008 will be a day I’ll never forget – I finally got to hear our Angel David sing live and had the chance to meet him.
My day started out by going to meet the buses around 1 pm at the Verizon Center in Washington DC. There I met kpham54, karidol, archftw/crusherlover, Richard and several Angels from Fans of David, including Mary, Christy, Andrew, Fran, Amy and several other Angels (whom I’m not intentionally leaving out – there were several of us and I can’t remember who else was there!)
We waited for the buses until around 2:15 p.m., which is when they finally came by. David and David were the first Idols to come out around 2:30 p.m. along with yesha. David Archuleta headed to the right all the way down the line and David Cook headed to the left all the way down the line and we were standing in the middle. kpham54 and I decided to go down the line so we could see David up close. He is so gracious, kind and just gorgeous in person. People were talking to him and he kept saying “awww, thank you sooo much!,” smiling as he did so and giving those completely adorable typical David looks. During the time that I was following David, Ramiele, Jason, Carly, Kristy Lee, and Brooke came out, but I barely saw them. Brooke kept apologizing because she had to leave to do press but signed as many autographs as she could.
David Cook got to our end first and stayed out the longest of any of the Idols along with Michael Johns, who came out a little bit after the rest of the Idols. Chikezie was the only one who didn’t make it outside. I didn’t have the chance to speak with David Cook, but he seemed really nice and spent a lot of time talking to people. He told the fans around us that he was wearing a suit because he’d had an important meeting earlier that day and hadn’t had the chance to change. Later during our concert he was still wearing the suit and he explained that he’d met with Senate to talk about cancer awareness and research.
Archey reached us right after David Cook did and I got him to sign two pictures for me (one’s for you luvnugsrarofan!) As he was signing my pictures he asked someone what time it was and he exclaimed “Oh my gosh, I have to go, I have press in 5 minutes!!!” so he handed my pictures back and continued down the line so he could get to as many people as possible before he had to go.
Andrew, who designed the original Archey cartoon, had done one for each of the Idols and handed Michael Johns the one he’d done of him when he came to our part in the line. Michael quipped that he should be making a profit off of them! We also had the opportunity to speak with Jeff, who is one of the nicest people that you will ever meet. He spent a lot of time with our group and you could tell that he really appreciated David’s fans.
We hung around the buses a little bit longer after David left, up until the moment that David Cook and Michael Johns went back inside. It started to pouring rain just a few minutes later, so I left with kpham54 and karidol. kpham54 went back to his hotel and karidol and I headed to her hotel, where we both finally had the chance to meet ml. Her bus had gotten delayed from Canada so she didn’t have the chance to come and meet the Idols at the buses. We got ready for the concert and headed back towards the Verizon Center.
The Concert
Here I finally had the chance to meet Linha (randyisgreat), who gave David the “David is My Hero.” I also met Karla, Richard’s wife and several other Angels (there were about 50 of us!) and we waited for Richard to hand us our tickets to the concert. Richard and Karla are also two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet and David is fortunate to have such wonderful people looking out for him. Before we knew it, it was 7 pm.
I sat with ml and karidol and we were beyond excited for the start of the concert and to finally hear David sing live. I’ll say that I was very impressed with the concert and how great each and every one of the Idols sounded live. They’re all extremely talented and I truly enjoyed each of their sets. The concert went by extremely quickly and karidol, ml and I were counting down the number of songs to go before we got to hear David sing.
David and Angels
Finally, the moment we’d all been waiting for arrived. Smoke rose from the stage, the piano emerged and we saw David – I could barely breathe! The crowd went completely crazy for him. I think I held my breath, jumped up and down, started sweating, screamed my head off and just took in every moment as best I could while attempting to take decent pictures. Hearing David sing live is beyond anything you’ll ever expect – it was just so beautiful and yes, magical. There’s a whole other quality to hearing his voice live that you don’t get from the TV or from recordings. His voice just envelops you and leaves you wanting more. Angels was spectacular – as always, he completely changed up the song and made it sound new and different. I loved how he bounced up and down in his seat as he got into the song!
David and Apologize
I loved hearing David sing Apologize – he totally got into the song, from the facial expressions down to the hunkerdowns and everything in between! David is so emotional when he sings and it was worth it just to watch see his gorgeous eyes and expressions as he sang this song. He sounded fantastic and amazing. It’s David, how could he not?! ;)
David and Stand By Me
I was so happy and literally “stoked and pumped!” to get to hear Stand By Me live. David worked the stage and the crowd was pumped! Again, it sounded like a completely new song. I especially loved the “And all you beautiful girls” part. David started dancing and really getting into it at this point and it put the biggest smile on my face! I tried to take video of this part but my camera didn’t co-operate with me.
David and When You Say You Love Me
Before we knew it, David was on his last song. He didn’t talk too much between sets and it was sad to realize that he was almost done! When You Say You Love Me left me mesmerized. I’m sure I stopped breathing at this point too and am surprised that none of us passed out from the emotion and excitement. David explained that WYSLM was “one of those message songs that I like to doooo” (so adorable how he said it!) but told us how it was an important message and how it was for the fans to show them how much he loved us (of course you already knew that, but I still hung onto every word!) The crowd was screaming and cheering for him like crazy at this point. I’m surprised that I didn’t start crying but I think I was just too enthralled and captivated with the whole experience. Again I tried to take video but it didn’t work! ml got some of the ending of the song and a security guard came up to tell her to stop recording about 30 seconds before David finished. I practically smacked him because he was interrupting us while David was singing and there were only a few precious seconds left, dang it! David finished the song and introduced David Cook and was gone in a flash.
Backstage
David’s set went by super fast but we were all excited because we knew that we were going to meet David backstage at the afterparty! After the concert ended, people with backstage passes had to sit and wait for security to take us up and all the Archey Angels were taken up first. It was here that I finally got to meet Virginia5, who’s just amazing in person! I’d estimate that there were at least 60 of us Angels, so we were given our own private room with David and the rest of the Idols were somewhere else. David came in after we were all there and he tried his hardest to get to everyone. He only had about an hour to be with us because the other Idols had to leave for Lexington and he had to get his belongings from the bus before they left. We talked to Jeff for a bit more at this point and karidol, ml, Virginia5, kpham54 and I just observed David interacting with the fans. At one point karidol got David to speak in Spanish and again my camera didn’t co-operate or else it would have been a great video! I was so upset when I realized that it hadn’t worked!
We were told that David had to wrap things up and that he only had about 5 or 10 minutes left and I literally panicked because I hadn’t had the chance to get near David yet. I quickly asked him for a picture and a few autographs and handed him the gifts that I had for him from luvnugsrarofan and myself, but didn’t say much else because my mind went blank, ahhh!! He thanked me and I think I just didn’t say anything or I might have said “you’re welcome”, I was too much in awe! I talked to karidol in Spanish so she could take the picture and I could feel David turn around and look at me surprised, I don’t think he was expecting me to speak in Spanish, haha! I was literally shaking during this time and wrapped my arm around him and then a few other fans got their pictures. I managed to sneak in a few other pictures before David left because I really didn’t like the first one, but I could not stop shaking! I couldn’t believe that David was standing right there next to me. His eyes literally glow and he was so gracious whenever someone asked him for a picture and really listened whenever someone spoke to him. He kept saying “did I get to everyone? I want to make sure that I had the chance to meet everyone” and he thanked us all for coming before he left. His arms were laden with gifts! I kept wondering what it must feel like for him to have all those fans around you and having everyone taking pictures of you right and left. As surreal as it is for us to meet David, I imagine it’s pretty surreal for him too. I didn’t get a hug but I’m sure that he smelled like heaven! Before I knew it, we all had to go. It was a fantastic experience and I know that I’ll remember it forever!
